This is a moving, witty and candid account of a fascinating life among the talents who defined the swinging sixties. Appearing in ground-breaking television from an early age, Anneke Wills was one of the busiest actresses of the 1960s – her role as Polly establishing a template for one of televisions most iconic and prized positions – the glamorous Doctor Who girl. This is a beautifully written story of a unique childhood, life at the heart of swinging sixties London, and a turbulent marriage to a leading actor. Anneke’s life revolved around the eccentrics, actors, film-makers, painters, designers, poets, satirists and drunks who were changing the world. She counted among her friends the leading lights of the time – from Peter Cook to Sammy Davis Jnr. Illustrated with previously unseen photographs and Anneke’s own drawings and paintings, this is the story of a rich and colourful life, and the growth of a truly remarkable woman.

So what
happens in the second book? "It's a rollercoaster"
says Anneke. "If you thought that the first 30 years
were incredible, you ain't seen nothing yet!" During
the seventies, Anneke spent time in India at the
ashram of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, she embraced
Buddhism, and became addicted to opium in Laos and
lived in an artists colony in British Columbia. "I
lived in tree houses, yurts and gypsy wagons. I
lived naked and alone in a jungle, and in a commune
of thousands in Oregon."
In the
early nineties, the world of Doctor Who catches up
with Anneke, much to her surprise. "I had no idea
that it had such a following" - in the second book
you can read about Anneke's work with another four
Doctors, as well as her life as a painter, interior
decorator and mother.
More
marriages, more tragedy and a lot more laughs make
Anneke's second book an irresistible read. If you
liked the first one, you'll love the second -
